A Victorian pulpit has been refocussed to create a private reading room for the individual. Wide timbers from the backs of church pew seats are turned vertical and encircle the structure. A traditional horsehair mattress and cushions sit within. The utility of the pulpit has been transformed from a platform for public speech, to a cocooned space for quiet contemplation.
