The negative spaces within existing furniture are made solid by casting concrete within the wooden frames. Each work is unique, with a mould made meticulously to tailor the form to the internal void. The skeletal grace of the unadorned carpentry is emphasised by the solidity of the new addition, which fits perfectly but remains separate to its counterpart.
The title of each work is taken from English wedding vows. Each element retains its own character and autonomy, embellishes the character of the other, and yet together they have a new collective identity and strength.
